Cool New (to me) Car

Well, I’m about to conclude the deal for a beautiful silver 87 Carrera (assuming the PPI etc go as planned). I don’t want to jinx the deal with too many details. Full details, pix and driving impressions will follow 1300 mile maiden voyage home (I can’t wait).

I need some help with some details: Could someone measure the front hood. I am making a magnetic bra (to help road debris from damaging the car on the trip home) and want to cut the panel to size before my plane trip.

Thanks and keep your fingers crossed,
Alan

Congrats on your purchase.

As for measurements, at the front, it's approx 31 1/8 wide. At 11 1/2 up the hood in the center, it's approx 34 1/4 wide.

Remember the the front is not straight, so without having a hood to get a pattern, it may be tough.

Where are you getting your material, I need to make numbers for the track?

Good luck with the 87, Alan
I just try to avoid running close behind big rigs and construction vehicles, or anything with big tires that can kick it back at you.

Staying in the lead helps alot too

I just bought an older Porsche too! '87 911, but only have to drive it 500 miles. Black on black w/ the whale tail. Have wanted one since I was in college in the early 80s. Finally entering my price range. Just hoping it doesn't rain on the way home.

Thanks All--

kqw--I will use material similar to Track Skin or Mag Bra. If the surface of the hood is clean and the magnetic surface of the skin is clean I shouldn't have a problem. After all those products are used to prevent stone chips at the track. They stay on at track speeds. I realize that I will have to take the bra off if it rains--hey maybe we can start a trend!

88 Club Sport--Thanks for the measurements. I know that they aren't exact, but they help. I'll do final fitting when I get the car.

ClesieMo-I ordered from Beacon Graphics:

24"Wx10 feet Black $35.

they have lots of colors.

Alan
