Anyone ever make their own EDM ?

They're saying it can be made for $275 or less. Pretty interesting.
Broken studs and extractors here I come :) .

OK, I'm not proud. I'll be the first to expose my ignorance. What the hell is this?

Electrical discharge machine. Since the steel studs have more resistance than alluminum, the studs are eaten away but the alluminum is fine.

this guy I know who makes his own jet turbine engines for model airplanes had to make his own EDM for making the impellers/rotors. He is making a jet that is about 5/8" diameter and puts out about 2psi or thrust..

Model Harrier video, mmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm ..... ook-ook!

No more please, I can't afford another addictive hobby.

talk about not needing another addictive hobby, a buddy and myself are currently in the middle of getting PADI (SCUBA) certified.. Low and behold, I found a great SCUBA bulleting board!!

Yes, the equipment is pretty pricey as well:(

Chris, That has to be the coolest thing I've seen in a while.

Any others make or want to make one of these EDM jobbers?

I'm also curious how it's used to do precision cutting.
