Show me your Targa bar repainted pics

I am getting close to the point where I will repaint the Targa bar. I know what was used at the factory since I have the product info/part numbers from my repair manual. What I am interested in is pictures of alternative paint types used on the targa bar. I have read the posts on the Wurth satin black as a good substitute. Anyone use any other type of paint? If you can I would like to see pictures of the finished product. Thanks

I'd suggest looking into having it powder coated along with the rest of the cars black trim, especially since you've already got everything apart.

I've got mine stripped and am planning on going to the Satin Black. I'll post some pictures once I get it done. I have a little bondo work to do on it. Seems the PO had an antenna mounted to the bar. Discovered the previous bondo work when I was stripping the pain. I'll be using a good etcher first then the satin black on top of that.

Whatever you do keep it matte. I just saw a black coat that had a bit of shine and it didn't look right...My2

I just had mine powder coated, sorry I didn't get pictures, my wife had the camera on a trip. I'll post some pics tomorrow if you'd like.

I went w/ semi-gloss black, w/ 30% gloss as opposed to the normal 60%. My powder coating guy doesn't like to use less gloss than that w/ black b/c he says it will fade and oxidize.

I like the way it came out. It's a bit shinier than I wanted but it's a pretty close match to the black window trim and the rubber when all dressed up. Best of all, I shouldn’t need to worry about it fading, etc for a long, long time.

Check out mine. Done for $15 in my garage, plus some 400 grit wet/dry I had lying around.

Pat-
I'll try and get a picture when I go home tonight. I repainted mine about a year ago using Wurth satin.

I used a $2 satin black from walMart along with a napa self-etching primer. 600 grit and prep-solv. Turned out great for well under $10. Hardest part is remoing it. I also too the time to remove all glue, badges and the rust along the mounting holes.

My body/paint shop did mine when I had the Duck installed

I don't know what specific paint they used. It used to look very weathered and faded now look! I know its not a close up but it looks brand new again, nice matt finish.

Pat--
Not the best, but hopefully these help. The inside shot was taken soon after I repainted the targa bar; the outside shot was one year later.
