Alternator stud? 1987 911
I'm looking for suggestions on finding a tiny part.
I need one of the studs (and nut) that screws onto the back of the alternator for an 87 911 Carrera. I accidentaly twisted the threaded portion of the stud off. This is the stud that the blue wire connects to (D+ maybe?). Suggestions on finding a replacement stud are appreciated. I'm in Atlanta, GA. I posted this in the classified section, but because the piece I need is so "trivial", thought I'd post here as well. thanks, Alex ps: if anyone has an old alternator core laying around, it probably has the piece I need. |
Alex, If you can't find here try to visit a local alt/starter rebuild shop.

Thanks, Rick. I'm going to try to hit an alt. shop in the next couple of days. It just sucks trying to run simple errands in Atlanta traffic during biz hours! I'm hoping the power of the internet can save me some hassle...

The stud is part of the complete rectifier assembly. The stud is imbedded in the
assemby and can't be replaced. I doubt that you'll even find that assembly. |
Actually, the piece I'm talking about is made of brass and screws onto the embedded stud. The piece has a stud sticking out onto which the blue wire and nut go. It seems as though the piece acts as a spacer to keep the wire from laying directly on the back of the alternator.

If you carefully attach the wire, you won't need the spacer.

Saweet! Thanks Loren, I was hoping someone would suggest that.
