Rennsport Detailed Schedule
Thought this may be of interest...
Rennsport II at the International Speedway, Daytona Beach, April 23rd through 25th is a huge gathering of Porsche racing cars. We would like to emphasis that the focus of this event is on the cars themselves and the unsurpassed racing history of Dr.Ing.H.C.f.Porsche AG. Accordingly, although we have five races, the main focus of the event will be on this unprecedented gathering of Porsche racing cars, Exhibition cars and on the Concours d’Elegance – organized by Amelia Island Concours founder, Bill Warner. Hereunder is how we envisage things happening: See the detailed schedule on the Internet at: www.gorace.com - click “Rennsport”, for a minute by minute account of the events. The schedule given out at registration at the track will supercede any previous schedules published. Wednesday, April 21st. 1:00pm to 6:00pm Registration and track access open. Registration for Competitors is at Gate 70 entrance located opposite the airport on the South Perimeter Road. Registration for PCNA guests – “star” drivers, press, PCNA staff and other special guests, is at the NASCAR Registration building off West International Speedway Boulevard. Again, go to the website for a map. Thursday, 22nd. 8:00 to 6:00 Registration and parking 1:30pm Photo Shoot Historic Porsche Racing Cars. Invitation only. Assemble to right of pit entry (opposite gas pumps). You will be shown where to go. Friday, 23rd. 7:00 to 6:00 Registration PCNA “Touring” and race practice in groups. Look at schedule. 6:00pm Competitor dinner at the track in large marquee located behind the Busch garage area. Each event entrant will receive two tickets for this dinner. These will be distributed at Registration. Saturday, 24th. 7:00 to 2:00 Registration 9:00 to 12:10 Qualifying in groups 12:40 to 1:10 Lunch 1:10 to 2:00 Parade/Exhibition of significant Porsche racing cars. By invitation. 2:15 to 3:15 Driver autograph signing. Limited to 100. Busch Garage area 2:00 to 5:00 Concours d’Elegance, in Pit Lane. Award presentation immediately afterwards in Victory Circle. 5:30 PCA dinner in marquee, Busch garage area. Sunday, 25th. 8:00 to 12:00 Registration 9:00 to 11:20 Warm-up, in groups 12:00 to 12:30 Lunch 12:30 to 1:30 Parade/Exhibition of significant Porsche racing cars. By invitation 1:30 to 5:00 Races by group Race Awards Race awards for 1st, 2nd and 3rd overall will be presented immediately after each race in Victory Circle. 1st, 2nd and 3rd. in Class awards may be collected from Joni & Chris Herwig, located at Victory Circle. EXHIBITION CARS Exhibition cars should line-up in Pit Road 30 minutes before their scheduled start time. i.e. at 12:40pm on Saturday, 12 noon on Sunday. There will be 6 groups each led by a Porsche Pace Car, driven by a professional driver. Group 1-956 to 962: Group 2 - 911 to 935: Group 3 - 550 to 904, Group 4 – 906 to 917, Group 5 993 to 996, Group 6 – Porsche engined specials. NOTE: Exhibition drivers must wear driver protection clothing and helmet to current standards. If you are in the Exhibition group and you haven't already doen so plese email Butch at butch@posterperfect with information for the car descriptive plaques. Model Serial # year 50 words about your car. IMPORTANT NOTE – PACE CARS Due to the large size of some of the race groups, for safety reasons certain races will be split in to sections. For instance, in the 911 group, we have 110 entries. In this case the field will be divided into three separate groups. Each group will have a Pace Car at it’s head. In case of an accident in Turn 1 on the first lap, a red flag will be shown at Start/Finish, the Pace Car drivers will slow their group down to a controlled halt before the incident. RACE CAR NUMBERS Joni Lefter and Kim Belinc from Timing and Scoring are currently reviewing the database for car number conflicts and will contact you directly in case of problems. TRANSPONDERS WE HAVE NOT RECEIVED TRANSPONDERS NUMBERS FROM A CONSIDERABLE NUMBER OF ENTRANTS. IF YOU DO NOT HAVE A TRANSPONDER YOU WILL NOT BE SCORED. Have a great time and a safe trip. Watch the troopers in Georgia, they're everywhere! You won't be able to sweet talk your way out of a ticket like you did with the MI trooper!!
