I'd guess a rebuild will cost you as much as a re-built unit! Don't buy one that needs work.

You really don't have enough info to go off of. What kind of rebuild does it need? Is it worn out or did something break? Any mods done? Etc..

if you want one, you need to buy a complete engine with all the trimmings, whether it be a core or a runner. you would probably have to pay about $5K for even a tired runner, needing TLC, just to get the turbo-specific parts.

I was thinking about buying a Porsche engine (tired) that needed work just to practice on (limited mechanics skill...but I have a lot of shiny tools!!), or any engine for that matter just to learn how they all go together and the ins and outs of it all.

I think on average I have seen running 930 advertised for about $8.5K
