I have a vague recollection that there's a gate shifter kit that, above the shift boot, looks completely stock. It's not the unit manufactured by Seine Systems (though it uses the stock shift lever) or Wevo, and I don't think (but I'm not sure) it's the Rennshift unit. Anyone have any ideas?
Thanks!

Scott,
Are you thinking of the one made by Sherwood? JoeA

Joe: If I understand correctly, Sherwood's uses the actual stock shift lever. I'm pretty sure there's an aftermarket unit that utilizes a completely new shift lever that looks stock above the boot. It might be the Rennshift, but I'm not sure.

I thought that the Wevo was a piece of flat machined (or cast) aluminum, but it looks like they also have what they call the "Classic" shifter (that I didn't notice the first time I looked at the website). I think that's the one! Thanks North Coast...

Scott,
Now that I reread the post I'm a little confused. The Wevo changes to look opf the shift lever. If you want it to look stick I think you can fit the Seine kit under the shifter boot with either a stock rod or short shift kit. I installed one over the winter and also upgraded to a leather boot and it fits easily under there. Also, to add my two cents. I love it. Once you get used to the spring back it's great to have a steady shifter and that element of safety. The only difficulty I had was getting the shift coupler adjusted just right. Just took a few tries. John

I sent Wevo and e-mail on this issue. Here's the response I got:
The 915 Classic shifter has a shift lever that accurately mimics the O.E. lever. The knob is attached in exactly the same manner as stock, with a new factory part, the crush sleeve, included with each kit. The stock boot can be used, the shifter will look stock once you have completed the installation, even the black semi-gloss is matched on the powder coating. Pretty amazing that they respond to e-mails even on Sunday. I'm impressed!! ![]()

Did the picture attachment mess up the e-mail I sent to you?
The RennShift has a stock appearance when used with the '73 and later 911 boot. ![]() |

My apologies, James. I somehow missed your e-mail. Can yours be finished in smooth semi-gloss or matte, or is it only available in a textured finish?

Yes, the RennShift can be finished with a low-gloss black like the factory shifter.
