In search of set screws to plug air injector holes

I am removing the air injection system and I am looking to plug the hole on the cylinder head. Does anyone know where I can get a 10mm 1.0 pitch hex head set screw? I have tried all of the local hardware stores but have not yet had any luck.

Thanks,
David

The part you need is sold as a SS plug for 914 rear brake rotors, probably available from our host, I found them at a local Porsche shop that had acquired a ton of them years ago.

Mercedes Benz 450 SEL torque convertor drain plug. Can even buy the sealing washer. Did mine recently almost looks as though the factory had pugged the heads. Can get them at the local dealer.

Good call! I heard that they were from MB. Actually Darren @ Pelican told me that. I beilieve the MB plugs are an allen head whereas the 914 part is a philips head. Although, I could be wrong. Mine are allen head. Looks nicer and easier to install. I bought the set from my mechanic who pulled them off of a doner motor. He has said they are getting hard to find. Hope not.

Got the plugs for my engine from NAPA Auto Parts. Standard bolts...the size escapes me, but that has been posted before.

If you can't find the size (you can order hex or allen head from a number places), I have spares that I can measure..

Good luck.

Try Maryland Metrics, I bought the perfect plugs when I removed my AI system. The plugs are tapered steel screws with an allen head, DIN 908 10X1. The crush washers are copper DIN 7603 10X13.5X1. I believe six plugs and six washers cost about $5.00. This is a wonderful sight for metric stuff.

The holes are not tapered; one needs straight M10 x 1 threads on the plugs to properly fit the air injector holes in the heads. These plugs are available from a variety of sources including apparently Pelican although I couln't find the plugs in their on-line catalog. Jim

You're totally right. I wrote philips head, but I meant a normal bolt/nut head. I prefer the Allen heads, though.

Anyway, yes Pelican carries the 914 brake plug and washer set that works. Call Darren, he knows what they are...

No, the holes are not tapered but the nozzle that screws into the head has a slight taper between the base of the nozzle and the start of the threads to allow for the centering of the gasket as it is tightened. The plugs I mentioned from Maryland Metrics have this slight taper.
