First roadtrip (gratuitous pics)

The 911 is back together after a long downtime being repsprayed. It had no problems passing its first MoT (gov't test) under my supervision.

Just a couple of days after getting it roadworthy and after making sure everything was good to go I embarked on my first decent trip in the car. We were due at a wedding in the East of England and I promised the groom I would drive him to the church in style in the 911, and so I did

The car performed great and I loved driving it. It still seems fast but the best thing about it is the sound above 5k rpm! I was concerned that something might happen on the trip but I should have had more faith. The oil leaks were completely (!) gone and the only trouble seems to be a fuelling problem at low engine speeds when its hot.

CaliforniaClassix style - brightens up any photo

wow - what a great looking car. that's one of the best colors on an early 911. i know you must be happy after all that down time but the final results is a car to be real proud of.

That looks so cool
Is the aubergine the original colour?

Are the Cibies mounted to the horn grille or wing?

Yep orignal colour. The Cibies are mounted on the wing - I have only seen a few other cars (in pictures) with them mounted in the same place. They seem period, possibly a dealer install?

Hey Layzee, that is one pretty lady and one beautiful aubergine!
Congratulations...
On the subject of the car only, ....hmmm...excellent, what a color!!! Suits the period soooh well.
Strange how important matching the color and period-car is, even though all 911 appear the (very nearly the) "same"...!

Thanks for the nice comments all.

The burgundy does look very similar.

I also took great pleasure in ripping out an awfully installed alarm that was put in in 1981. It had this big Klaxon thing on. Makes hellulva noise when you put 12v on it.
