Pictures of my 1st Porsche, 72T

Finally got pictures together of my car and needed to share. It's "rust free" as far as I can tell, one owner, 141,000 miles, mostly orignal, including paint, but sat for 2 to 3 years. Will not start due to the MFI belt was chewed through by mice, so I need to replace that and decided to drop the motor to iron a few things out and fix the MFI belt. I'm sure I'll be asking more questions but will try to share what I learn as time goes on.

Thanks,

Jay, pretty sweet looking. I love that style of hood. You should check out JackOlsens car and start planning for repair/restoration while taking ideas from his car.

Me...I'd widen out the rear flares, add some wide wheels, put in a 3.2...oh, and paint it that orange color.

Here is another car you can get some ideas from. This is one of my favorites. I'm not sure what engine it has, but I think its a 2.x of some sort.

First I need to get it running then see what to do but I did check out Jack's car and it got the rusty wheels in my head turning. I like your idea but will proably keep it stock and look for another to carry out my master plan on.

Hehehe, thats what you say now. I give you within a year to start getting 'ideas' of modifications. ;P

Either way, it'll be a nice looking car.

you must join Jack's newly forming 4 door club.
2 doors +1 gas door + 1 oil door (unique to the 72 models) = 4 doors
pretty cool..... car good luck on the resto

Welcome to the family The car looks nice yea take down the engine and do all the areas where oil may leak. You might want to check the clutch too. Good luck with her.

Congrats! Welcome abaord! The people here can definitely help you get her up and running.

Your going to want to read all of the tech articles and download the factory Bosch manual for MFI (Check Measure and Adjust, get it from the link below) before you start dorking around with anything on the injection system. Here's a link:

http://www.pelicanparts.com/techarticles/911_MFI/TipMFI.htm

good luck!

Porsche Crest

Jay,

Congrats!

First order of business would be to pull the alternator/fan and look for evidence of rodent nesting material on top of the cylinders and heads!!! Serious overheating problems have been caused by critters under the cooling shroud!

Awesome! I am going to look at a 72 911T tomorrow. Will be my first Porsche! It needs a motor, but for $800, I'm not complaining!!! Jacks car has to be the best looking 72 (or any year!!) out there.

Warren....I noticed you have a couple Mopars, is the Dakota all stock? I have a 96 Dakota 5.2, 5 speed 2wd that I drag race. Have had a ton of Mopars in the past. Heres the Dakota

Nice 72, Jay
I'll bet the paint will clean up nicely with a little attention and the whole car for that matter. I'd give all the systems a once over and check their condition while she's down. Check the brakes good, And at a minimum flush the fluid.
With one owner you should have records that will help alot.
Check good for mice/rat nests under the shrouds, Like Warren advised.

It will be a blast bringing her back to Life She just been sleeping anyway.

Take lots of pic's and keep us posted.

Now you can say " 72 is the best year for a Porsche"!
Congrats on the purchase. Let the addiction begin...

Very nice! I've got a white 70E, don't change that color. You've got to get rid of that 'PORSCHE' reflector though, that shouldn't be there, and personally, I liked the early 911 without the reflector better.
