Question 83SC Clutch pedal on floor

Thought I broke a clutch cable, but no. Tranny repaired last mo. after son's disagreement with 1st gear. OK for 3 wks then grating noise for 1/2 mile while pulling over and pedal goes to floor. Would broken throwout arm behave this way?

yes it does. also check the roll-pin that attaches the clutch pedal to it's shaft. they shear, completely or partially.

Clutch pedal and cable (new now) seem ok back to tranny. It's as if the helper spring is "past center" or something like that.

if you retighten the cable, whatever is failing usually finishes breaking and gives you a clue.

I guess it looks as if I'll have to drop the engine again!
