Tire size for narrow '74 w/15x6's?

I'm a newbie. I searched the forums for info, but couldn't narrow down a direct response. I have a stock bodied 74 with original 15x6 Fuch's. Car will be lowered a bit & I would like to do the occasion track event with the car. So please post exact manufacturer & size.

Not sure on the manufacturer, although I know it's not a big name or anyone special. I have 205/60/15's front and back on my 74 Targa [no flares] and there is no rubbing and they handle awesome. I have yet to get them to squeak in a corner! 65 around an off-ramp no problem!

I have a narrow 74 with 15x6 Fuchs and
Yokohama AVS ES100 in 205/60/15
I'm running lower than euro height with negative camber an 21/26 bars. I've used these tires on AutoX and a DE and not had any rubbing. IF I turn the wheels to lock I do get just a very light rub under weight on the inside of the fender. But I never turn to full lock when driving, only as a fit test and possibly when parking.

same here..205/60/15. Dunlops..I think they only come in 205/55/15 now, but I expect they will fit. That is about as wide as you can go with the 6 inchers due to wheel size, not rubbing. Mine handle well, but they are a bit prone to spin when you exceed 200 horsepower.

I'm also running 205/60, but 195/65 is the closest to the original no-longer-available 185/70 tire size that came on the cars.

Would everyone say then the 205/60 is the way to go vs. 205/55? The 55 series appears to have more options (tirerack).

The Yoko's seam to be the 60 series tires of choice of the 3 tirerack offers.

The 55s will work. I don't think they 'fill' the wheel well enough though.

I agree with toaster..more 205/55 options now. I would like to see pix of a 911 with that size before I buy new tires too.

Ask, and ye shall receive!

205/55-15s look really square on my 15x7s, so they might look a little bit beefier on 6" wheels. Great ride/handling balance compared to my old 205/60 setup, which in retrospect, felt like a Cadillac.

Taken from this thread on fitment of 15x7 Fuchs on narrow body cars.

Thanks Adam. Beautiful car! Those seem to fill the wheel wells just fine. Wish I had some 15x7s, but those should work fine on my 6s. My car is about the same height. Doesn't look like you have the Carrera flares in the pix...true? What brand tires are they?

Thanks, Flintstone.

The 7s fit really well. I don't have Carrera guards though, just the script.
