I have never seen such a scheme set up in a car before but the idea is fairly simple. FYI MOSFET stands for metal oxide semiconductor field effect transistor. These behave very similiar to regular "original" transistors in which a control current is amplified to run a high power device. Their claim on cutting down on wiring seems suspect since every component must have a separate wire run from the "control box" as they call it. Each piece is wired in individually so design on your part would be simpler. If I were building an electrical system from scratch it seems like a good way to go.

I'm considering it for a race car which needs full wiring. According to the manufacturer, it has been used in legal SCCA cars.
The price looks pretty comparable to which I had expected to spend buying all sorts of wiring and parts a la carte.

That looks really interesting - especially to an electrical novice like myself. Please keep us updated on whether you decide to go that route!

Brian,
I'm building a Cobra (Factory Five Racing kit) and have spoken with the owner of the company. Very well made product and tons of technical support. I would have used one but finished my wiring before this was on the market. Go to http://www.ffcobra.com/ and do a search.
