Innovate Air Fuel Meter on CIS/SC
Hello. My new SSI's have a hole for my old O2 sensor. I have read here that the SC runs better with the O2 sensor disconnected. But Steve W mentioned to me a device by Innovate that could measure AF ratios. But we didn't have time to talk in detail. I did a search and read the earlier posts with regards to the device and SC's, but it wasn't clear to me what you can do with the data. My questions are:
1) Can you use the Bosch O2 sensor and hook it up to the Innovate LM-1, or do you use the Innovate brand O2 sensor. 2) Do you somehow hook up the AFM to the CIS so that it can utilize the AFM data and enrichen the ratio (lambda <1.0) as RPM's go up? 3) If you cannot hook up the AFM to the CIS, is there something you can tune on your SC to optimize the AFM data? Like some screw to turn, etc? The device looks cool, but at this point I would only want to buy it if the data can be used to optimize the engine. I realize the value of the meter is that you can monitor AFM in non-idle conditions, like driving down the road under load. But I don't want to buy it if I can't do anything with the data. I think you all will tell me a way to use the data, so if you could please share the explanation with me, I would appreciate it. Please make it a very simple explanation, because I am just starting to read about this. I know Pelican sells this now. Thanks!

there is some trick... i forget what it is now...
something with the later CIS and the LM1. !. e the innovate sensor... its a "wide band 02 sensor" as opposed to the narrow band bosh that comes stock and works with there box... let me see if i can find that thread.. EDIT: found it LM-1 WOT closed loop trick with freq. valve CIS

Issaquah? We're practically neighbors. Are you going to that breakfast thing on Saturday with all the Porsche NW guys?

nope... stuck in AZ for a while. miss the race tracks up there
![]() When i get back i will be sure to look up the local yokels... I have an LM-1 and have used it to : set the mixture on a 3.0sc with a BAE turbo kit and make sure its not lean on boost :set up the mixture on a 3.3turbo and make sure its not lean under Boost :re-jet carbs on the current car. :helped set up MFI I love it... but even with this use it still sits in the box 6months at a time. If i was back in Washington i would have just loaned it to you. :/

Nick,
Thanks for the link! Damn, that is hard to understand. I need to go over it a few times. But the link mentions that my 81 Euro SC has the K-basic. Would it still be of benefit to me? Innovate now has a device that is the size of a VDO guage, and I could stick it in the dash. Would you recommemd that over the handheld unit? Your post above mentions 2 turbos a carb and an MFI. My SC has none of the above. Would the device still help me? Also I just bought a 69 911E last weekend. It has MFI. So how did you use the adjust the MFI?
