Got another early car
Well I couldn't resist. I picked up a 73 t coupe to go with my 72s targa. I havn't decided what my plans are for the car yet. It runs well but is not as firm as the S. I don't know if its the lack of sway bars or if its the shocks, but it is different. Also the seats have got to go. Way to springy and soft.
![]() ![]() I am thinking new paint, maybe flares, new seats, rs door panels, and suspension mods. Maybe a yellow would be cool.

That sounds like a plan for the '73. Of course with those mod's (and an S in the garage) you probably won't be happy with the T motor. Might as well start looking for a 2.7 RS spec motor now

If it's as original as it looks, why take it apart? Why not just find a roller and turn that into a project?

Well it definatly needs paint. Its not horrible but it bugs me. I may try to sand and buff it out but I don't think that will do it.
The seats need to be replaced and Im taking the door parts off and putting them on the targa. The door armrests are bad so its cheaper to just go the rs route i believe. The suspension is not as firm as my S, It feels soft and a little squirly. I guess seeing all the rsr projects going on has got me thinking. Also I got this at a good price and local.

For some reason I don't trust this poster. How could someones garage really be that clean?
Seriously though, I am jealous. I have a 77 911S that has a billion parts from later cars (with the 74-on bumpers that look hideous, 3.2 engine, etc). The more I see them, the more the early cars have been growing on me. Still haven't had a chance to drive or even ride in one though. If I get the chance I would definatly like to get a clean early car, but I would probably try to keep it fairly original. Especially since you have the two cars now, you can have fun modding one and leave the other one it it's unmolested glory.

Also I'm a little tired of black. I have three black and one white vehicles. I'm not in any hurry. Ill probably wait till winter to make up my mind with what I want to do.
I may give it to my son to take to college. If thats the case he can deceid if he want to do all the work for the paint job or leave it as is.

The 911t will not be in that garage for long. Thats the wifes parking place. I have a drive in basement that gets all the car parts, lawn mowers, and everything else.

Mark, Mark... do you really need two?!?!
![]() Also, Not sure if I ever mentioned it, but the S had SC torsion bars installed at some point, that may be one reason why it feels more solid. Sway bars might be different too, something to check. How's the power of the T compared to the S... never driven a T before.

Yes it has the CIS. It runs better than I expected. It seems smoother than the S. Of coarse that's what makes the S fun. When the rpm's are up the S really turns on.

The garage ceiling is high enough to put four 911s in there.
On the T, it's those tires. Just swap wheels one day and see. |
