Thanks everyone for help with the 912-6

I just wanted to post a thank you to everyone on the list who has made this posible. Today at 4:10 pm eastern, I drove the 912-6 for the first time. Went around the block a few times. Brakes are a little spongey still, have to break in the calipers, and the rear end is a little low. Wayne, when are those adjustable spring plate wrenches due in? Got one on back order.

There are some many people that have helped directly by giving advice and info, plus all those I've bought and swapped parts, and especially thank you to Wayne and everyone at Pelican. Without his book and the use of this site, I wouldn't have even considered this project.

So, enough with the group hug, here are the pics of the car after the first wash.

7x17 993 rims with Yok es100's fit fine with 1" spacers in the back.

Thanks again everyone, and we'll see how long it takes to sort out all the gremlins.

That sure is easy on the eyes. Good to see it out and about - when I was out there on Wednesday it looked unhappy sitting in the garage. Congrats on the completion of your project!! Probably time to stow the kids at the sitter and take the wife out on a date...

Looks great John. What wheel/tire size are you using? Do the 912s have "baby flares like my '75, or is it a Carrera flare? It's hard to tell from the pictures.

Very nice. Those wheels fit the car well. They are among the few non-fuch choices that do it for me.

Colin, I think they are 215/45's on 7x17 rims. They are just the baby flares right now. If I get to the point where I have to paint it, I think I'd go to carrera flares and find some matching 8's or 9's for the back end.

I also have a ducktail to paint and a front chin spoiler to install.

It strange, this is the first time I've had a car with glossy paint and a good motor at the same time.

Looks great John.

How does the new motor run? Can't wait to see the duck tail. I don't think I have ever seen a brown ducktail.

The motor runs great. It stumbled a little when we broke it in, but since its had some time to sit with some good gas in it, it ran without a hitch. Had a few oil leaks to deal with (oil lines and the bolts that hold the chain rails), got all but one so far (hope its not the flywheel seal, think it maybe needs to seat itself?).

Back end was rubbing when I got on it too much, so I've got to get the a** end picked up a hair and schedule an alighment, if I can find a decent shop to do one around here.

I saw a picture of a brown duck on here somewhere, think it was a show me your carrera thread or something.

So when is the next drive day. I was thinking we need to gather all the NC pelicans for a cook out or something soon.
