The Ultimate Driving Mix CD

Ok...so I did a quick iPod check, and this is what I came up with. Note that these are just songs I own already. Some are pretty obvious, some more obscure. ALL are good to drive to, though.

Depeche Mode - Never let me down again. ("I'm taking a ride, with my best friend....")
Beatles - The Long and Winding Road
The Cure - Hot, Hot, Hot. (Like our air-cooled engines.)
Dave Matthews Band - Drive in, Drive out
Down to the Bone - 17 Mile Drive
Eminem - Lose Yourself
Jason Mraz - Curbside Prophet
Led Zeppelin - Fool in the Rain
LL Cool J - The Boomin' System
Dave Weckl Band (Live) - The Chicken
Melissa Etheridge - Like the Way I do
Michael Jackson - Speed Demon
Pearl Jam - Rear View Mirror
Phil collins - In the Air tonight
The Police - Synchronicity ("Wrapped up like lemmings in their tiny metal boxes"...love that)
Primus - Jerry was a Race Car Driver
Prince - Lets Go Crazy
Propellerheads - SpyBreak
Red Hot Chili Peppers - Give it away
Roland Orzabel (From Tears for Fears) - Under Ether
Rusted Root - Drum Trip/Ecstacy
Stevie Ray Vaughan - The House is Rockin'
Sting - Desert Rose (From the Jaguar Commercial)
Stuart Davis - Rock Stars and Models ("Models need rock stars like cavemen need strip bars, throttles and fast cars...")
Tom Scott - TCB in "E" (Killer jazz tune...very uptempo)
Tool - Forty Six & 2 (You might crash from banging your head to this one.)
Tower of Power - What is Hip? OR Soul Vaccination (You might crash from the white-guy dance you'll be doing in your car to this one.)
U2 - Where the Streets Have No Name
Vanessa Carlton - A Thousand Miles

Lets see yours!

Where's KC and the Sunshine Band? What about Parliament/Funkadelic? "One nation under a groove...gettin' down just for the funk of it..." Love that old school stuff when I'm drivin'.

The sound of rain hitting the pavement, a 60's keyboard, and "There's a killer on the road..."

I have a mix of jazz, blues and rock. Helga seems to run best when playing "period correct" music from late '73, especially Eric Clapton...

Speaking of Golden Earring...Im partial to "When the bullet hits the bone/Twilight Zone" or whatever that song is called.

How bout "Love is the Drug" by Roxie Music. You can hear the sound of the 911 fired up in the beginning of the song.

Im not a huge KISS fan...but "Detroit Rock City" is a cool car song...as is "Riders on the Storm" for those rainy nights.

Lots of good suggestions.

Here are a few from my iPod that make me drive faster in the twisties (no particular order):

Horndog -- Overseer
Battle Flag -- Lo Fidelity All Stars
Symphonatic -- Infected Mushroom
Hey Ya -- Outkast
Blue -- Eiffel 56
Semi-charmed life -- Third Eye Blind
Just Like Heaven -- The Cure
Little Red Corvette -- Prince
What is Love -- Haddaway

And, the greatest top down at night cruising song:
Behind the wheel/Route 66 mix -- Depeche Mode

Or, if you're cruising in town:
In the Club -- 50 cent
