2001 Carrera

What is a good price for this car in perfect condition with low miles? And what HP is this year along with good and bad things to know? I will check this thread frequently.

thanks,
Mike

Hi there,

I'll bite. I would think the "market" value could run anywhere from high 40's to very low 50's (depending on options of course) A fully optioned car may fetch more. The market has dropped on the later cars significantly. I would think if you wait a few more months until the 997 is released, it will drop even more. This car probably drops 1K bucks every month or two.

Also, as far as HP, I'm very sure it's 300 (or 298). The 320 HP was released in 2002, I think.

Anyhow, you should try to post this thread on the 996 board too. I won't suggest venturing other boards,as it would be nice to have some other newer car users venture over here.

regards,

Thats interesting, they have a price of 59900 on it which I though was high. The car is immaculate with 4000 miles on it. They couldn't tell me all the mods, but is does have different exhaust and a aero tail and kit.

thanks,

Mike

Mike,

That mileage is ultra low. The aero kit is huge. Car is probably more reasonably priced than I thought. Is it certified? Beware of the RMS issue on these cars, which will evince itself at such an early mileage.

regards,

Jon, what is the RMS issue? What other problems should I be aware of? I apologize for not knowing but I have only owned a 87 930 and a 86 Carrera.

Thanks,

Mike

rear main seal. They like to go bye-bye. If the car is under warranty you're OK. If not...

jbripps,

You're correct the 2001 did have 300HP where the 2002 came around with the 320...

The aero kit is a nice option added to the >2001 and if my memory is correct this was a 8-9K option at the time of purchase.

? Any photos yet ?

No photo's yet! I am still debating to get it or not. It is still under the factory warrenty. I have a M5 BMW that is certified to 100,000 miles warrenty! Does Porsche do that? I am also looking at a 2001 Turbo! They said this car has the 3.6 litre in it. Can you tell me if this year had any problems such as the rear main seal?

thanks for all your guys help

Mike
