901/915 output flanges
Does anyone have a good knowledge of the output flanges of 901 and 915 transmissions?
I have 2 pairs of output planges (both coarse splines at gearbox end, I think 17 splines or so) one pair have 6 holes on a PCD of 94mm, only 4 of which are drilled through and tapped. The o/d of the flange is approx 110mm http://homepage.eircom.net/~veewrx/V...ox/output2.jpg the other pair have 6 holes on a PCD of 77mm, and all 6 are drilled and tapped. The o/d of this flange is approx 88mm, and there is a "lip" folded down towards the cv side. http://homepage.eircom.net/~veewrx/V...tputshafts.jpg I am trying to mate these to 944T drive shafts, but the 944 CVs have a PCD of 6x86 and an o/d of 100mm. Since neither of these pairs of flanges suit the CVs, are there CVs out there that will suit either of the flanges or are there flanges out there that will suit the CVs? This is a bit of a head scratcher for me, any help appreciated. BTW, in case you're wondering why I'm trying to mate a 915 tranny to 944 drive shafts, it's for my Subaru WRX engined-915 transmissioned-944 suspended and braked VW Superbug!! http://homepage.eircom.net/~veewrx thanks!! :D trev |
Trev,
You need the middle year 911 drive flanges, mid 75 onwards for a few years. They have coarse spline, 100mm OD CV joint and 6 off M8 threaded holes. These will plug into the diff you have that was sporting the larger of the two drive flanges you show. That will allow you to conect to the same CV joint of the 944 drive shafts. Good luck with your Vrex. Regards Hayden |
Trev,
From the first images I think you have flanges from ’69-’73 and slightly later. The second image flange is from the “simplified” differential of ’68. It’s been a long time. Best, Grady |
thanks for your help guys!! :)
