Stock exhaust mounting mods..
I am installing a stock 2 in 1 out on a 2.7 and I do not have the straps or the metal piece that bolts onto the block. I hear the straps are a pain in the arse to hook up anyway. So is it possible to weld a bracket to the muffler then bolt in to the block? Is it possible that the direct connection will crack the heads due to the stiffness?

I made a metal support bracket w arm to bolt in the stock location (two bolts) and used two muffler straps. If you locate the strap fasteners pointing down on the backside they are easy to get to.
The straps pass thru slots in the bracket arm. I would not weld the muffler to the support bracket.

Terry,
Why don't you just order #19 in the diagram below, for a 1974 model ... 901.111.151.04 ???
