Slant nose conversion.
 

Nothing like beating a dead horse, but here we go. I am considering the possibility of converting my '71T which has 935 stlye 11" flares on the rear and 9" tubo look flares up front to a slant nose to better match the rear flares. I purchased the car this way. As a "T" resale is not my concern and since it has been modified already this is going to be my in your face 911. Basically a kick the snot out of the camaro's/mustangs which dominate the Indiana area. I am currently doing heavy suspension mods, Koni's all around, bronze bushings, camber plates, mono-balls, and so forth. I'm planning the 3.6 conversion next year. So!!! If one were to consider a slant nose conversion who would you reccomend the kit from? Anybody out there have a front kit for sale? I know some don't like the conversion and that is fine, I just want something different and always liked the look. There are only 3 other 911's in my entire county so something different is always welcomed. Appreciate the input. Oh! Nothing against mustangs (my first car was a '70 fastback, camaro's, well the verdict is still out!) Thanks, John.

Remember that most any conversions will have headlight shake unless you use factory parts.

When the front fenders (steel) are converted they will:

- Most likely use Korean or Italian aftermarket fenders as a base.
- Cut a hole on the top of the fender. This eliminates the "tunnel" that leads up to the factory bug eye head light.
- Hammer a flat lip around this new hole.
- Weld a flat panel into this hole. Louvers optional.
- Weld a bucket at the bottom of the fender to house a homemade RX-7 based pop-up headlight mechanism.
- Cut and weld front flares on the fender.
- Base fender (and other parts) may or may not be galvanized.

The amount of work and money may not be be worth the effort. But that said you may want to consider getting pieces off Ebay.

Pieces include:

- Front fenders
- Boxed rockers - Typicaly two pieces with end caps. May need new rubbers.
- Rear flare brake vent boxes. Also, vanes to direcct air (ornamental)
- May need new Air dam
- Reduced/reconfigured widshield washer bottle
- Reposition horns
- Repositioned oil cooler...if presently in front fender
