Opened up like a tin can!!!!!

See what can happen when you hit a chunk of concrete and it tumbles under the car. This was the small chunk out of all of them that were scattered across the roadway......

I think that there might be someone here who has experience w/ concrete chunk gymikhana driving, now who was that?

Don't let Todd see this thread. He'll start to have concrete flashbacks.

Looks like a bit of welding is in order.

there was someone with a blue duck that had a similar problem. Bent the entire pedal mounting area too.

now here I was actually having a decent Monday...

What do you guys think a body shop is going to charge to fix something like this?

RickM 05-03-2004 02:39 PM

Probably not too much. Depending on if they can access to topside.

To make things less expensive remove (if possible) anything inside the car so they (or you) can hammer/dolly the tear flat. Hopefully they can butt weld it together or use a small patch along the damaged area. You can then treat, prime and undercoat yourself inexpensively.

Bummer! The stuff that ends up in the road everyday is amazing. I guess to look at the bright side, it could have been worse. You still have the car and yourself.

the only time i really appreciated a nice chunk of debris on the freeway, was when some Ahole in a lower honda accord cut me off, causing my involuntary finger to come up (he thought i was checking out his date). i hate when that happens, but it does. he then let me pull up next to him and he gave me all sorts of suggestion that i should do to myself. then the dumbass started tailgating me. i mean really close. i saw a chunk of rock on the freeway and just changed lanes into it and drove over it with my pickup truck. it was pretty big, enough that i flinched expecting it to hit my differencial. the Ahole switched lanes right behind me and went over the same chunk! i think i destroyed his car.

Cliff,

Great job! Thinning out the 'lemming's gene pool' never hurts ...

Elombard is in that group...

the tie down from the semi punched 3" holes every 3-4 inches all the way down the pan, and completely removed the pedal cluster from under eric's feet.

amazing this is the third one I have seen on the board. My damage was much more, it is going to end up costing ~$1200 to fix. For me that included a used pedal cluster and a new MC. Its not like new but its under the carpet. If someone wanted to restore to concours they could put in new floor pan sections down the road.
