911T Whine
This is my first 911 and i need some expert advise
I've got a strange noise coming from the back of the car. It's a low pitch whine When i take it out of gear and coast it goes away, so i'm thinking it must be a tranny noise? When i when to check the oil temp sender which stopped working on the drive home to its new home, it wasn't where it was supposed to be........ I read a little and searched a lot and it would look like the car was origionaly fitted with a sportomatic. Any ideas would be greatly appreciated. |
Welcome!
It's always better to give a minor description in the topic like "911T trans whine". Have checked the trans fluid level? Has it recently been changed? Have you put in any additives to reduce friction? At least this will get the thread back to the top and hopefully a few of the masters will be able to help you. |
You don't have a torque converter. The whine could be anything. If you are unfamiliar with a 911 perhaps you can find someone around you that has a 911 to drive it for you. Can you run the car in the driveway and replicate the sound or does it only make the noise when you are driving? For that matter are you sure the whine just isn't the normal sound of the fan?

No i can't replicate it in the drive way. i can only hear it under power.
Yes i've checked the fluid level... all OK I think i'll try changing it....... |
Classic,
When exactly do you hear the sound? Is it only in a specific gear, or all of them, and at what speed are we talking about? Marius '80 911 sc |
