I just went over 200 of these cup holders sold and am heading toward 400. Thanks to all for your support.

I bought one, it works good to.
I kind of wonder if a second invention would slide into the ash tray instead/somehow, so that radar detectors or task lights or cell phones could be pluged in. I end up having my hot drink in the cup holder, and a capped water bottle in the passenger side for dusty days.

How much and how can I send money? PAYPAL?
My girl needs one for her Cappucino, I just use my door pocket, works great.

K. roman, the cup holder is on pelicans website.
The big problem with having a cup holder come out of the ash tray is the location. Anything extending out beyond the edge of the ash tray will interfer with shifting or thre drivers knee. The second problem is that to engineer a part that somehow folds out of the ash tray and serves the purpose of 90% of the users would be a rather expensive part to produce and sell. I already tried that with my cupholder that slid out from under the dash. I lost money on everyone i sold. Jerry |

I looked at the set-up. You would have to screw a thin plate to the dash, the side part that is exposed when the ash tray is open (unthinkable to some). The flat plate would have to twist into a rod as it turned 90 degrees and ran just under the radio. Clearing the radio, but just before the glove box it would protrude out as yours now does. I know that this is lower than your set up, so the securing point to the cup holder would have to be adjusted to be at it's current "perfect" location. The rod and harness would be what you have now, just an extra foot of black rod and a flattened part at the end in lieu of the expander/twist. Just something to think about should sales tinker off one day. Cheers, George/kach22i. PS: I take cash donations for my design savy.

Toss out my old idea, it's the long route.
Short route, secure it under dash, once again by adjusting where the look-out rod hits the cup. I know drilling may be required, but it would be out of sight. Perhaps the main reason you sold 200, or was it 400 of these is because there is no drilling involved. However anyone on Pelican already is comitted to being hands on and turning a wrench/drill.

kach22i, one of the big reasons for designing it the way i did was to avoid any drilling or cutting whatsoever on the Porsche. Also it is very difficult to fasten any thing to the lower edge of the dash because it is padded and as you tighten the screw the padding crushes and and you lose your angle. Believe me i have tried. Even my old cup holder that slid out from under the dash had a special clamp that attached under the dash to avoid the padded section.
