Colour scheme for race car I have a 73RS replica race car which has just completed its 5th tarmac rally and is in need of a little tidy up. I'll include links to a few pics below. The tub came freshly painted midnight blue which is very dark and often confused for black. When I built it I bought some newly refurbished red Fuchs and went for a blue/red colour scheme - which I'm now over. I'm about to strip all the stickers to have the rear guards resprayed. Any thoughts as to a colour scheme than can be easily applied using stickers to a very dark blue car? I also have a second set of Fuchs which can be sprayed any colour. One thought is one or two centre stripes in white with white wheels - but the wheels would be a pain to keep clean. Another is one or two centre stripes in light silver with silver wheels. Something different would be baby/gulf blue stripes/wheels... Please put your creative hats on and send all ideas this way. Yellow Decals Yellow fuchs. |

How 'bout covering the whole car in a lot of orange vinyl...you know u want to ;) |
 I vote for #1 scheme. |
Rothmans livery, paint the hood, roof, tail white, stripe the red and gold, leave the bottom blue. Add hood mounted lights,Unmistakable rallye car |
 What about gulf colors? |

Red and blue are tough to look at. The combination can look good or not so good. I like the white or silver stripes. I don't think the Fuchs necessarily have to match. Natural Fuchs (bead blasted centers, polished lips) look good on any color scheme. |

I think either yellow or green stripe/Fuchs. Here are a couple (very) quick versions of your first pic: http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1083877645.jpg http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1083877664.jpg |

My vote would be for the first one. I like RED |

Ryan, here's what I'd suggest. Looking at this pic, imagine your midnight blue 911 with the narrow red stripe and the wider silver stripe + silver (or grey) painted Fuchs centers. White number circles and sponsor logos as necessary. Hope this helps... http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...%20ST%20os.jpg |

Thanks all Eric - can you redo that shot 2 more times? once with silver stripe/wheels and once with white stripe/wheels What about a chrome stripe? |
Ok, here are a couple more quick n' dirty resamples with silver and white: http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1083897954.jpg http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1083897971.jpg SmileWavy |

Either yellow or silver stripes look quite nice. |

I gotta say that while i wasn:t expecting to, but I really like that green mock up. With the green fuchs, i think it looks really nice. db |

I'm tending towards a silver stripe with natural (ie. stripped) light grey wheels. Although I'm keen to see what it would look like with a light blue stripe and wheels - like this car of Timmin's http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1083909862.jpg How about it Eric - can I get one more? |
psychadelic martini colors! or pink pig style, havent seen one done up that way. |
Eric's black with green looks very cool! I love it. |

 woodgrain contact paper. |

Thanks for the help/opinions guys - especially Eric for the fine photo-shop work. I'm 99% sold on the purple stripe/wheels. Next weekend begins the task of stripping the present livery. |
Anybody done the stripe on a Targa? |
Eric - any chance of one more? whilst i'm 99% sold on the purple i neglected to consider orange |
OK, but any more and I will have to start charging you, hehe :D here you go: http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1084776796.jpg SmileWavy |

Hmmm, maybe a good thing you mentioned it. I think it's my favorite version so far! |
that black and orange looks bit$&in!!!! i would go with that definately |
many thanks eric - i agree the orange looks good but it may be because the car looks a lot blacker in the pic than in real life (in which it is midnight blue which is dark but with purplish hues in the sun) i'm now confused - i think i'll just get some sample vinyl and sit it on the car |

Ryan, One of the Kremer RSRs from '73 was black with orange Fuchs, bumpers, and 'Kremer' door decals. It looked pretty good. |
I have an 911 & Porsche World article on that car Matt - its pretty cool. I will see if I can dig it out and post a pic. |
Ryan, I might beat you to it. |
