Big time oil smoke

1984 3.2 with 70K miles. Normally there is no oil smoke with this car and it does not burn oil based on checking levels, however, tonight driving home I had to slam on the brakes and just immediately after than I started laying out a smoke screen of white smoke coming out of the tail pipe. The car ran ok and the oil smoke dissipated in about 30 seconds. Coming home after that I slammed on the brakes on purpose and it repeated the same thing.

Could I have too much oil in the filler tank? Is there oil pushed somewhere by the fast stopping where it normally should not go? Or am I seeing the start of something bad?

White smoke? That's usually water (condensation). Grey or black is fuel. Blue is the dreaded oil.

It was definitely oil smoke based on the smell

I noticed my 87 did that, seemed to smoke when I braked, more smoke the harder I hit the pedal. I ended up rebuilding the top end of the engine.

normal. keep the oil level down about 1/2 way between the hi/low marks on the dipstick. oil just sloshed into the intake. hard turns can do it too.
