Cable connector under passenger seat

What's the cable/connector under the passenger seat on my '87 Carrera for? Optional power seat? The passenger seat is all manual on this car.

I don't know for sure on your car, but on my other non-porsche cars it has always been a seatbelt buzzer/light.

Yeah I was vacuuming under the seats the other day and I noticed a curled up cord under both driver and passenger seats.

I meant to post and ask what they would be for.

If it's a big connector, with 6+ contacts it's for an optional power seat.

Mine only have two connectors and the cable is colied up like the old phone cable.

Did they offer power seats in 72?

Thanks

Mike

For '72 models ... the cord plugged into the weight sensors in the OEM seats, and was part of the seat belt warning system ... the RED "Fasten Seat Belts" sign on your dash!

It could be worse, and was ... from 1 January 1974 thru 1 January 1975, when the Seat Belt Interlock System law was in effect ... and prevented starting the car until belts were fastened!!!

mine's got the big connector, so I am going to assume that yes, it is for an optional power seat. Thanks for the confirmation.
