Curious if anyone has retro fitted a fender cooler and mounted in the front (in a RUF type bumper).
I have an opportunity to pick up a used Carrera cooler and was wondering if I would see a noticeable difference if I mounted it in series with my current trombone cooler. Reason for this is budget...looking to install a purpose built cooler (Elephant) in the future. Any comments would be appreciated. Thanks Andy 81 911SC (BW Motorsports RUF) |

I have wondered this myself. I cant see how it would hurt? I would ditch the trombone and just plumb the carrera in the bumper and then add Chucks cooler later. Might make the plumbing easier for now? I would pass on the Carera unless its cheap... alot of times you can get an aftermarket that would fit better in the front bumper for less money than a used carrera. my $.02

I'd just take the trombone out and use the Carrera cooler (provided it is known clean and not from a blown up engine which may have deposited metal bits in it). Or get a cooler designed for center-mount.
The trombone won't add much cooling so it's hardly worth keeping. And since it connects directly to your hard lines, splicing in to connect a center mount is going to be a project. Not worth it. The Carrera cooler can be squeezed into some front valances. But it's proportions aren't optimal. Laying on its side, its about 8 inches tall and 16 inches wide. Your bumper will accomodate a much wider cooler.
