I am trying to decide between a complete coil over kit or stiffer torsion bars and adjustable spring plates - this is going on an 84 911...
Any advice as to which is a better idea and why.. Any reinforcements needed for the coil overs? Thanks!

Unless this is going to be a serious track car and you need spring rates higher than torsion bars can give you, or the ability to quickly change spring rates, I would stick with the torsion bars. It's very much more $$$ for the coilover kits. I wouldn't install them without reinforcing the shock perches, either.
Doesn't an '84 come stock with adjustable spring plates? TT

The car is too heavy for coilovers without reinforcement to the chassis.lt works okay on a stripped tub but the body is not designed for the amount of forces put on the shock towers by coilovers.l`ve got an 84 also and l considered the coilover route, briefly, but went with the well documented upgrades of heavier t/bars,sways,bushings,adjust spring plates, sport shocks, bump steer, strut brace, etc. The car handles as expected, great.
