Dino drive and engine clean-up

I have the synthetic oils out of my car (caused terrible leaking) and found a funny way to celebrate it. http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1084122786.jpg http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1084122823.jpg

I took out the A/C and cleaned up the engine too. I used STP "Steam Cleaner" in a can, same as the other petroleum based solvents. Then a little spay citrus cleaner to remove the residue, but it made the green cover look dried up and old. Then I used this product called CD-2 Engine Detailer, which gave everything a nice glossy look (I hope there is no silicone in that stuff).

Looks much better. Have you considered backdating your heater? It's a lot easier to work around the motor without all that AC crap.

Rear Deck Lid Pops up

Every now and then when I hit a bump the rear engine cover pops up. Guess the weight holding it down is off, but then again it has opened on it's own a couple of time before.

How do you adjust the deck lid so it stays shut?

In case you are wondering, the foil tape and lack of hoses (as seen in the pictures above) and blower motor are off until I get around to installng SSI's this fall or next spring.

It's a 1977 2.7L, how would I back date the heat?

FYI: The heat exchangers are shot, smog pump is off too. Also the shop took off my blower motor and would not give it to me. I think I know wher it goes, there is a bracket and a plug-in in the upper mid-left of the bay. Is ther an upgrade for the blower motor too?

It would eliminate the need for the blower motor & keep the engine bay uncluttered. If you do a search there is a lot of good info. Heres a pic of mine although it's not as clean as yours.

Coooooooooooool, I mean Hot!:)

Have you thought of orange/red straps for the air-box?

Note: It took about three cans of engine degreaser, did the bottom of the transmission to. Thinking of greasing back up all the exposed moving parts under there with spray on White litheum.

Hey nice looking CIS motor there, looks very familiar!

I thought about those red air box straps too, but they are something like $30!!! I'll stick with my stock black ones.

Great job on the engine detailing! My engine lid does the same thing, so I had to disconnect the engine deck hood shock, so the lid doesn't pop open when I drive (carefully) over railroad tracks and "Michigan's finest roads". Now I have to open the engine lid, then hook up the shock to keep the lid from falling down when I work on the car. No matter what I did, I couldn't get the lid to stay shut. Hope your luck is better!
