quirky spedo/ odo

On the 87.
The spedo/ odo stops working for a couple of miles after I reverse for any distance....usually out of the driveway. Any Idea why reverse appears to knock it out, and forward for a couple miles fixes it?

Is there a previous thread on this? I couldn't find one.

Weird. I don't think the electronic speedo is directional, i.e., 30 kph in reverse will still show 30 kph forward and will indicate forward distance too.

Only thing I can think of is that since the wiring for the speedo is connected near the rear shift coupler in the tunnel. Perhaps you have a loose wire there. Check to make sure the sensor is properly seated too.

I will have to get in there and look for some real obvious problem.
Had me stumped too.
