Hey everyone,
I've been replacing some lights in my 911 and making sure everything's as it should be. I replaced the fog lights, and then realized they needed to be aimed badly, they were aimed above the headlights! I adjusted the headlights correctly so I know they're where they should be, but the fog lights are simply adjusted to where I think they make the nicest/coolest looking pattern on the road at night. I'm not too terribly worried because honestly, fog lights just look really cool, and I've only ever driven one car ( '02 Jeep grand cherokee) where the fog lights actually seemed to work well. Still, is there an actual rule for where they should be aimed? Thanks, Andrew |

I really haven't seen any guide lines about aiming fog lights. Since they are supposed to light the roadway under the fog, probably the aim is under the normal headlight area.
Good luck, David Duffield |

yeah, that's what I did I lowered their aim to about 15 inches under the headlights at 10 feet.

Yeah, replace them with Hella 450 flamethrowers and see the light!

The stock ones might make great paperweights. I think it might be time for Hella's... I remember years back, going down the Pennsylvania Turnpike, 75 mph on the 'four-hundred-four super sport; wall of fog enveloped, afraid to slow down thinking of those eighteen wheelers I had passed. Near zero visability-- then something flashed on both sides--I had driven through a toll booth! Luckily (amoung other things) there was no gate.

jeez, that's kind of a scary thought...
I just have the stock 964 fog lights, but I do have much brighter bulbs in them which make a good bit of difference.

So did you guys who updated your fog lights use new relays for them? Just curious if they would be subject to the same issues which H4s are when it comes to the wiring and such.

I used existing wiring and relay for the Hellas. They are 55W, same as the fogs, so no issues. The only problem I'm dealing with is that I want to move the Fog switch to my High Beam stalk switch so they come on instead of my headlight high beams. Looking through the wiring, it looks like it can be done pretty easily, but I want low beams to stay on with the driving lights, so it will take some thought.
