In the Trunk

What is the cardboard called that protects the wiper motor et all from the trunk contents? I couldn't seem to find it on this website. Does anyone still make them???

(I think I know the answer to that!!!)

Well, I typed in the pn (91155106703) for a 1977 911 with the power brake booster and it came up as "Trunk Wall Lining" available as a special order OEM part for $75.15. I bet this part fits the SC's too but I'd check with Pelican before ordering. Jim

A small part of my mind suggests that it's a piece of cardboard with some buttons attached. You'd likely be able to make one yourself for a good bit less than $75 invested (never mind the time to find materials, cut a pattern, etc...)

It's not cardboard but some type of treated and molded hardboard (like masonite?) and there are some metal fittings riveted to it in addition to the trunk liner snap buttons. Jim

Yeah, I've torn it apart. Looks like it would be easy to make a forma dn jig and have it look pretty much OEM. Thanx guys

If you need one, I have one from an '85 911.
$20 shipped

masraum 05-11-2004 06:20 AM

Mark's a good guy, sold me the aux footwell blowers from his '85 with a whole bunch of extra tubing and stuff thrown in...

Thanx Steve, we just made a deal. 20 bucks shipped. I would say that is very nice of him.

This is an item that someone is bound to make out of carbon fiber....

Jim Sims 05-11-2004 02:26 PM

Which makes no sense what so ever as it's not a load carrying member.

Randy Webb 05-11-2004 03:08 PM

CF can save wt. in things like body panels that don't carry a load.

It makes little functional snese because the wt. savings would be minimal.

Westy 05-11-2004 03:53 PM

If I made a jig, then made a bunch of these and offered them at a really respectible price,,,,do you trhink there would be a market for this item?? Hmmmmmmm??

Randy Webb 05-11-2004 05:06 PM

mines beat up - count me in -- esp. if it is lighter and nice looking...

Resurrecting this thread.

I'm in need of a "Trunk wall lining" - aka cardboard with snaps. I'm happy to try to fabricate something but, don't have any part of an original to get an idea of dimensions, bend angles, mounting, snap placement etc. Not inclined to spend $75 on an OEM version. Anybody have any info or suggestions?

FA-18C 05-26-2005 07:48 AM

Has anyone come up with a good idea for reworking the hardboard trunk covers? Anyone done a CF version yet?

kilodawg 05-26-2005 08:55 AM

I'm curious about this as well, anybody?

Tim Hancock 05-26-2005 09:09 AM

It would be SO simple for the DIY types to make out of thin aluminum. That being said, I doubt anyone could make one for less than $100.00 and still , make money.

project 911 05-26-2005 05:50 PM

Not my car, but here's a metal version.

I've got the beginnings of one in aluminum.

So far all that is done is the primary bend. Other things seem to have taken priority.
