What is silver box under dash?
I have an 87 911. Underneath the radio, under the dash is a silver box about 5" by 5" by 1" that has a black plastic end and wires running into it. It has a Porsche part number on it, so I do not think it is aftermarket. Any idea what this thing does?

Does it cause any effect taking it out other than no cruise?

I think that they moved it under the radio in '86.

Yep. Cruise Brain. Just to the right of the ash tray under the radio. Don't toss it. A working cruise brain is worth a few hundred bucks.
