Period correct bucket seats for a '72
Ive got a set of SRDs in my car right now. Nice and comfortable, but Im thinking of ditching them. They dont quite look 'right' in the car and they obstruct my view when I look over my shoulder more than the small stock seats did. Im looking for a sporty period correct RS/ST bucket type seat to replace them with.
The real deal sport seats are out of the question. Too expensive and too heavy for me. The stuff at vintageseats.com is obviously incredible, but I'm looking for something a little cheaper right now. I did a search for vintage bucket seats and found a thread that is a couple of years old for Beilstein bucket seats . These seats look awesome. Has anyone dealt with this company lately? Their website is not in english and I wouldnt even know where to start looking to get a pair of these shipped over here. Is there a contact point for this company in the US? What are their current prices like? I also was looking at the Corbeau classic IIs. I know Bob Tilton has these in his lightweight. Does anyone else have a set of these? What do you think of them? Any other suggestions? TIA Last edited by Shuie; 05-11-2004 at 07:38 AM.. |

They have an American rep in the Las Vegas area (Henderson, NV). His name is Stefan Schleissing and very quick to respond to inquiries. He sent me a bunch of pictures and the pricing as of Mar. 18, 2004 is as follows (from the email):
"We called here the seats Nürburgring for the bucket 910... and Monte Carlo for the reclinable, adjustable 910 R..... Nürburgring 910 leatherette / corderoy - $ 545 911 leather - $ 765 912 leatherette / basket weave - $ 495 914 leather / corderoy - $ 675 Monte Carlo 910R leatherette / corderoy - $ 625 911R leather - $ 895 912R leatherette / basket weave - $ 625 914R leather / corderoy - $ 795 tilting bracket $ 49 5-point-harness-set-up $ 39 911 brackets § 38 The basket weave is not the original Porsche pattern, but it matches and the POrsche customers were so far satified and it is perforated,so you have actually more seating comfort than in the original, however as an option we can provide you with the original pattern for $ 895 per seats and approx 6-8 weeks delivery time. Please find attached some detailed pictures of the seats. We hope we can provide you with the best seats for your car. with warm regards Stefan Schleissing GTS gran turismo sportscars 702 353 7175 " They seem like a pretty nice product. Hope this helps. --Mike

Stefan's a great guy. Go ahead and mention Pelican Parts, if you will.
