Question Another Mystery Porsche 911

Anyone ever seen one of these or know what the story is?

Disclaimer - Cegerer, Jim Garfield and tchanson should hang back for a day if they know the answer.

BTW -- keep your eyes open, I've got some interesting old Porsche stuff coming in the next few days as I play with a new scanner that we just got.

I think I've got a pic of that in one of my books, but it's only a vague recollection and I don't have access to my books, so I hope someone comes up with an answer quick.

I'd love to see one of those on the road. It looks great to me.

It's a scam photoshopped image issued by Porsche GMBH in an attempt to rewrite history, hoping that it will make old-school purists find the 997 more attractive.

I guess now I know where I've seen a pick like that before! Hahah, funny that I actually responded to that first thread, but definitely didn't remember specifically.

Hmmm

Hmm a die cast Citreon.

I try to forget about French cars and my 64 Renault Caravelle.

All I can say about those fenders is they would make the high cost of SWB fenders justifiable.

I have a few R&Ts from 63 that I will look at tonight. I remember the pic and believe that it was a factory design study.

Cowtown got it (for those of you who followed his link) -- They were some specials made by Brumos which they were selling in 1966. The price was $300 + installation and painting. I wonder if any cars with them on have survived. Certainly an interesting alternative to the flatnosed conversions! I noticed the picture in an old Road & Track Issue that I picked up, but that is another thread...

Great photo, John.

Yet more affirmation (as if any were needed) that Butzi knew what he was doing...

IT's a prototype - then Brumos began offering a kit that would do the same thing. Search here for my name and you'll see the pic I posted of this a few months ago.
