Oil Cooler Mounting Bracket

Hi all,

Will be installing a 28 bar oil cooler either this weekend or next and would appreciate seeing some examples of the brackets required to secure the top and base. I assume that to secure the top, I will need to drill a hole in the back of the headlight bucket and bolt the cooler and a rubber mount diretly to it? As for the bottom bracket, I read somewhere that somone just used a simple "L" bracket from a hardware store? Doesn't seem very 'professional though. Also do the air horns need to be moved, doesn't appear to me that they do?

Thanks in advance.

Why not use the factory lower

and upper mounts?

When using the factory mounts I didn't need to reposition the horns.

The top mount can be welded or a hole drilled and bolted to the headlight bucket.

Hey OZ,

Here's what I came up with...well, my wrench came up with. I had him install it when he rebuilt my engine.

He fabbed up a lower bracket to match the factory bracket. He insisted that we don't use an "L" bracket because it would have lacked structural support moving side to side.

The top bracket was already there, and is basically a hook on the back of the head light bucket. I'm not sure if you'll have one, but if you have an existing fender cooler from the factory I would assume you do. Peek your head in and give it a looksy.

here the part list:

H-207-239-01 $8 Mounts
H-207-111-00 $23 Line
H-207-113-00 $ 24 Line

My temps have been waaay down since I installed it. Today I'll be sitting in traffic, and it should be fairly warm, a good test day.

Good luck.

EDIT: You can see the horns perfectly fit againist the cooler, they don't need to be moved.

Here's a bracket fabricated for my '77 by Dean.

I made the top mount out of some threaded rod with some spacers & nuts.

Thanks guys, you've given me plenty of ideas.

My car only has the bracket fot the trombone (i.e. bottom only). Will look to have some fabricated similar to the OE stuff.

Thanks again.
