930 boost pressure sender suspected
The boost pressure gauge on my '86 930 does not give consistent results and shows about .1 bar at idle and is pegged at full scale under boost. My 930 is stock. I suspect the boost sender.
I just measured the resistance of my boost sender (when disconnected from the gauge) and engine not running. I found that the resistance was 92 ohms. I measured another random sendor that was at my mechanic's and found that it was 45 ohms. I have no idea whether the one at my mechanic's was good. Question: what should the resistance of the boost pressure sender measure? If you have a 930, and wouldn't mind measuring yours, I would like to hear what yours measures. Make sure that you disconnect the wire so that you measure the sender separately from the instruments. Thanks in advance for your help! Replacement senders are over $100, so I would like to confirm a failure in the sender before shelling out the money to replace it. -Juan
