I have nothing to do with this auction. I'm just looking for opinions on the offer and the material. Has anyone used or seen this material in CD format?
The link goes to the ebay Buy it Now site. What follows is the text of the ad. Quote: I will end this auction early Monday morning. Porsche 911 Factory Workshop Manuals on CD Factory part number- WKD-481-921 This is a complete set of Porsche Factory Workshop Manuals on CD covering the 1972-1983 911 including the E S SC and T models. For the serious classic 911 enthusiast and certainly for the professional, these Workshop Manuals are the complete source for mechanical, electrical and body repair information. Step-by-step instructions are backed up with photos and exploded view drawings. Special tools and their use are described along with wear limit, and checking dimensions. This is the complete 4 volume set of manuals with over 1000 pages in pdf format. Perfect to use as the archive or backup for those who have the printed Workshop Manuals. If you have any questions please feel free to ask. I also have available the Factory Parts Catalogue or PET from 1950 thru 2004. The successful buyer may add the parts catalogue by taking the insurance and noting on his payment that they want the parts catalogue also.

Can't answer directly because I haven't seen the CD version.
However, if the CD for sale is same as hard copy, you will need more. The factory set is 8/9 volumes. The first two are the early edition and are needed for all cars. The remaining volumes are simply updates of the various systems for later cars. The CD advertised appears to only give updates for the years '72-'83. Would be somewhat helpful but as noted in the ad, really a supplement to 911 volumes I and II. The "free" PET parts CD is a great resource. I have it and use it frequently. Not only do you get part #'s but you can print out expleded parts diagrams to take to the garage to help with disassembly/assembly of almost anything on the car. These are both likely "pirated" if that matters to you. Last edited by Jim Chambers; 05-15-2004 at 10:13 AM.. |
