Leatherique

If I use an airbrush to apply the dye, will the results be any better than with a brush? Also, does this product restore the factory feel (kind of stiff) and appearance to the leather?

I've used Leatherique for some time now, although my seats don't require a re-dye. I believe that they recommend brushing their dye onto the seats. I've never gone wrong by following their directions.....they have great customer service and have always been helpful on the phone.

As far as stiffening up the leather, their products have the opposite affect and make the leather quite soft and supple. I belive that part of this re-dye process uses their Rejuvenator Oil and Prestine Clean. I use both of these products regularly on all of my cars and it softens the leather up each time.

Leatherique is a fantastic product. However, its NOT just a dye. It is a process.

If you want good results, you have to follow the process religiously. This starts with stripping away all the old dye. You do this using laquer thinner paper towels. When you have gotten all the old dye off you can with the thinner, move to using the leatherique cleaner product with 600 grit sandpaper. DO NOT suede the leather..... but do go at it until all the original dye color is gone.

Now you treat the leather with their rejuvenator oil. This takes several days. Then you remove the oil, and clean it with their prep agent. Give that several days to fully evaporate. Now you are ready to dye it.

They have full details and instructions on their website. Stick to the process and that rock hard old nasty leather will be supple and like new. Dont stick to the process.... the dye will just peel up later.

I am currently doing this process to the seats in my Ferrari Daytona.

I used an airbrush after being really disappointed with using a brush.
As long as you spray a "dry" pattern it will come out great.

Ahhh...ummm..Ferrari Daytona?/

As in.. 365 GTB/4 ?

365 cc/ cylinder ?

As driven by Gurney/Yates in the Cannonball?

Same engine as used in Bill Harrah's Jerrari? ( V12 in an original Jeep Wagoneer..the original Cayenne, I guess)

I love that car! ( ahem....next to our Porsches, of course)

Will....

Yup, that Daytona. My all time favorite car. Mine is a '69 model Euro car with the plexiglass nose panel. It has a competition spec engine with factory 10.5:1 pistons, custom liners, lightweight flywheel, racing main and rod bolts, balanced to a gram at 8k rpm. The heads are ported and polished with custom stainless valves, enlarged along with the ports. It runs P6 factory cams and factory racing velocity stacks on the 6 webers. Ignition is modified with optical pickups inside the factory distributors and twin MSD units hidden. IT looks totally stock, but really screams over 4000rpm. Probably good for 410hp or so. Car is red with black interior. Prior owner was a fanatic who owned it for 28 years, I am the third owner.

The Daytona is fast in an entirely different way from the 911. The Porsche is a carve the canyon street racer, very point and squirt. Great steering, lightweight and go-cart like. The Ferrari is totally different. Its a heavy car that really does not come into its own until 70mph or so. But it will accelerate 100 to 150 faster than it does 50 to 100. It does 120mph in 3d gear. And the noises it makes....... Like I said, my favorite car of all time.
