911 sc rear torsion bars
My 78 sc has been lowered by the previous owner. I want to raise it back to stock specs. my 101 projects book shows the rear radius arm torsion bar adjustment nut. My car DOES have this. How much height can I get out of this without removing the torsion bars and resetting them? Without measuring I would guess the back needs to go up and inch or inch and a half. I know I will need a realignment afterwards as well. any help would be appreciated.
Thanks, Keith |

If the springplate is centred I believe you can only get about a half to three quarter inch rise or fall. If the plate isn't centred (i.e. ride height has been changed by this method before) then you may not be able to raise the car at all. With any luck the car would have been lowered using the built inj adjusment so you can just reverse the procedure.
Maybe check if the spring-plate is in the centre of it's travel.

That car must be low for you to want to raise 1 1/2" That's huge.

It probably doesn't need to go a full inch and a half. That is alot. 3/4 of an inch will do it now that I have been looking at it closer. Thanks to all that replied.

All lot of people who want a quick drop just lower it one spline on the outside of the t-barand do not go through the full reindex process to get correct lowering. So if your car is 1.5" lower than stock (which is far too low) this may be the method they used. This is what my previous owner did. If this is the case you can just reset the spirng plate one spline on the torsion bar and be back at stock ride height. You'll need to do an alignment though.
