Should my 915 groan under 2K RPM?
Greetings all,
I just put my 915 back together. I changed out some things and had to reshim the ring & pinion. It sounds fine except under 2K in any gear other than first (first sounds fine). I don't know if this goan I get under 2K is OK or not. It made the noise before the rebuild too but now it worries me. I've put about 750 miles on it and it may be my imagination but I think the noise may be getting louder. Can someone tell me if a groan under 2K is normal? I'm worried that I may have setup too much backlash. Thanks in advance!

Buy them, sell them

Jeff, my 915 used to groan only in top gear at suburban (35-45mph) speeds. I thought I was "lugging" it too much, so I didn't worry too much. I've since had it rebuilt and it's basically silent.
