Did I get hosed??
I just purchased a bunch of stuff from our host to bring my newly obtained SC up to snuff. Ordered parts to rebuild calipers, etc.. Part of the rebuild is to replace all of the rubber brake lines. I got my order yesterday and the "new" brake hoses have a 7/02 manufacture date on them. I know these things have a shelf life, and I don't like the idea of starting out with year old lines on a fresh rebuild. Do I have a bone to pick with Pelican or am I making to much of this?? BTW, this car will be used at DE's and other track events, so I want to do it right the first time. Wayne, your thoughts?

I would think there is no issue of shelf life ( within reason) if kept bagged and away from sunlight and ozone.
Service life...as reported by Bruce Anderson...is 10 years with reports of internal swelling as the issue... --Wil

Like Wil said, bagged and out of the sun they are fine.

Thanks guys. Didn't think it was an issue- just wanted some other opinions.

If this helps, I'm replacing the one on one of my 912's this weekend, owned since 73, I can't remember replacing them before, probably did though it was in the last century.

Replaced mine as well about 6 months ago and felt no difference either. I couldn't see inside though which is where they start to wear first. Piece of mind was worth the price and time spent though. Especially as I stomp on the brakes at 120mph. (not that I have ever gone that fast

Yeah I was perfectly happy not to feel a difference. Way too close to the hairy edge if I did.

I'm with CD on this one. Peace of mind is worth a lot. Like I said, this car will be used on the track once in a while and I don't want to be left wondering. My fronts have a '92 date on them but my rear lines are originals.
