Adjusting Electric Window on Targa
 

The electric windows on my Targa go up too high. B/c of this, when I open and close the door the window does not fit in the groove in the rubber on the top. Every time before I get out I have to lower the window maybe a 1/2 inch and then after I close the door push the window into the groove with my hand. Is there an adjustment for how high the window goes up? Where exactly is it? Is there a kit that automatically raises the window after you close the door?

I got to do the same thing, someone posted once that there is a limit switch of sorts, but I did not have any luck even when I had passenger side regulator out. Am very curious too.

I just had my passenger door apart. There is a bumper device on the mechanism. You loosen it with a 10mm socket (do not completely remove the bolt) and then slide the towards the front of the car to decrease travel, rearwards to increase travel. You can't see the bumper without taking out the mechanism.

Of course this means taking off your door panel. It's not too hard. Get some spray contact cement to replace the plastic sheeting (don't leave this off, it keeps water out of the door).

Thanks MFB, I will try that this weekend. I ahd the whole regulator out a coupleof months ago and was looking more so on the motor itself for this adjustment.

MFBarnes has it exactly right. I adjusted both windows on my cab and it didn't take long at all. With my car, the slider divice has a slotted hole where I could easily reach the adjustment allen nut. After you get it adjusted to the spot you like, tighten it and then run the window completely up and down 7 or 8 times before you put the door back together to make sure the adjustment stays in place. I found my first window slipped a bit after I had it all back together and I had to do it again. I would recommend some masking tape to label the wires on the electric mirrors and I had some spray adheasive to stick the door plastic back on. It took about an hour with some assistance from my 12 year old son. I think Wayne's book has some pictures that are helpful if I remember correctly.
