Unhappy Paint/body pros, need your help...spot spray advice needed

Recently found some paint bubbling in the base of the gutter at the front fender. Being from California, I am new to this whole rust thing. This seems to be Missouri's gift to me.

Started looking and found rust repair in the form of body filler and spot respray at all the gutter bases, front and rear. So far, only the drivers side front has returned. I took the grinder and cleaned up the spot to the metal.

So my question is: now what? I've got the gutter cleaned to the metal. I want to prime it with POR-15 or equivalent. What do you all suggest I do now? The body shop suggests a roof respray for $1500. Since these resprays are here and there (gutter corners, hood, valences), I am hoping someone with some talent can spray just the 2 in spot where I cleaned the metal. Thoughts? Suggestions or recommendations in the SF Bay Area? Thanks in advance.

Oh, semi-related: what is the easiest way to replace these fender seals?

That area is the most common place for surface rust on a 911 that I know of. If it was me, I would do what you have done so far. Sand only the rusted area down to bare metal. Next primer the bare metal with a suitable primer. Por-15 is not needed since this is generally used for areas that you can't clean adequately prior to painting. Next, blend in the primer with wet sanding with a 400 paper an inch or two beyond the area to be restored. Now, mask off and use a fine mist of the base coat and extend to the area that you have wet sanded. Your car most likely has a one stage paint, so clearcoating won't be needed, although it is better for blending and finishing. After the paint has dried polish out with 1000 grit and then compound by hand. This area is very difficult to see in comparison with the rest of the car and I can't see getting your whole roof repainted for this reason. I skipped a few details but it is not hard to do. If you can get an airbrush, this makes it much neater and easier. As far as the fender seal, you need to loosen up all the bolts at the near the area. This means the ones located in the door jamb, rear of the trunk, and anywhere else that prevents you from spreading these two body pieces enough to remove the seal. When replacing with a new seal, cut the width in half to ease the placement back in the groove.

you could repair-por15 the area, then cover the A-pillar rain gutters with the Ruf aero-aids painted body color.

here is mine:

i had a scratch in the paint of the driver's side a-pillar from a windshield installer's screw up.

now the scratch is hidden, and i pick up some top end mph, and probably loose a half db of windnoise

How does it seal against the gutter to stop water sitting underneath?

there is actually a small grove in the back just in case you don't get a perfect seal at the top.
