Randy:
Why yellow...this isn't a trolling motor, is it, or you don'y have a megawatt sound system?... why deep charge and get a lesser warranty than a normal Red Top ( not deep charge)?

Also...better get a cover for the "hot" post on tha battery !!!

Just get the Optima Red Top unless you are into serious weight reduction.

I've been considering switching to an Optima for some time now. What's the difference between the red top and the yellow top? I have an '85 carrera with a 4 by 40 watt amp. Which would I use?

Search this BBS under likely key word phrases like battery.
Stock Carrera battery is a huge group size 49/93. Can go slightly smaller with group size 48/91. We have three different floor mounting holes to use. If a normal style battery, get one with a common vent port, and tube the gasses/liquid to the outside...more in the archives.

The link doesn't work, but I have a Sears Diehard in my car (cost was about $100, IIRC). I've been satisfied with Sears batteries in the past and see no reason to change. I did have to "modify" the anchorage to hold the battery in place on my '78 as the Sears battery did not have the lips at the base of the battery to allow the use of the original clamp.

Optima Red-top. I've had mine for 18 months with no problems! No leaking, either!

Brought a sears battery last fall for $99.00 and it fits right in the Porsche. My battery did come with a lip at the bottom of the battery so I was able to use the original hold own. The Sears battery is smaller than the original Porsche battery, but my front pan has too threaded holes for the battery clamp.

Was thinking of going the optima route but with the modification/fabrication required install the battery and with some battery not charging correctly, I decided to keep with the wet cell battery. Just install a acid mat under the battery if you are concern about acid corrosion.

DieHard International

Engineered to meet the unique characteristics of many European imports.

Good question -

it came with the car

Car has an amplifier, and I swapped out the alternator out when I purchased it 2 years ago, haven't had a single issue with draw or further alternator problems. Been 30K since then.

Normally, it's covered with carpet, so I don't fiddle with those funky covers. It's been literally a year since I've rolled back the carpet.

trolling means moving the boat slow while fishing

of moving thru something while trying to catch something

viz. Watch the older law students trolling thru the new 1L girls....

I put an Optima in my SC two years ago and almost got a double hernia when I went to lift it. That sucker is HEAVY. So when the battery died in my Taurus I stuck the Optima in it and bought a Westco for the SC, thereby saving 40 lb. (approximately).
