I had a shadowmaster STE 26' enclosed. I sold it for $4500. It was a 2001. I bought it used and sold it last year.

It was nice because there was extra room but with my car on board (2550lb), set of wheels, tools, and jack I didn't have enough extra weight capacity to do the things I wanted (cabinets, awning, tire rack, vinyl floor, etc) so I sold it. Something along the lines of a 20' would have given me enough room for the car and the weight cap. for the extra's. Some people are okay with having their trailer at or over the limit. I try to stay below.

It sucked a lot of gas too. In pure highway driving my 2002 Ram1500 4.7ltr gets about 400 miles unloaded, 280 w/open trailer, and about 180 with the enclosed.

Thanks, no "bling Bling" for us $$$$$$$$$$ I seen them today from $14,000 and up and as little as $4,500 of course they all look the same to me since I never own one before.

Do you guys know if theres any company that rent them ? something like what they do with the Mobile Homes ?

Anyone close to me have one that could rent us?

Juan I just bought a 26' haulmark, $5000, it has checkered flag floor, diamond plate runners, some pit pal stuff, a 55 gal aux fuel tank. and some other stuff

If you look around you can get a used trailer reasonably..I dont know about renting a closed trailer though..

You must have twin 5,000 lb axles which is the right way to go. That fuel tank alone can use up 500 lbs of cargo weight. The capacity get used quickly when transporting street cars. That trailer probably weighs 4500+ lbs and can carry another 5,500. With a 3,000 lb car and 500 lbs of extra fuel/tank you have 2000 to play with. That's a comfortable safety net. As long as your truck is good for it then you are all set.

I never found a good clearing house for trailers. Just local racing web pages and PCA chapter websites. The local autotrader type used car rags are pretty good too.

I didn't answer your brands question from before so here goes:

Trailex
Haulmark
Wells Cargo
Shadowmaster
Car Mate

Trailers are a weird thing becuase the individual components are very common and most of the local/podunk builders source components out of a catalog and do the final assembly. You will find that other than the brands listed above they will all be the same.

Someone posted a different message about an Ebay car. In the ebay auction description, the seller mentions he's got a 26' race trailer for sale for $7000. "Also available seperatly, 1999 Haulmark 26' race trailer. Living space, tire rack, water storage system and observation deck. Only $7,000.00"

He's even got pics....

Here's the link:

Juan, I know someone who bought a brand new 26' CargoMate for less than $5000. Try to find a dealer in your area and you might be able to get a comparable price, esp. if you can find it on the internet...and ask the dealer if they will try to match the price.

The trailers tend to hold there value very well, and owners usually put money into them which adds to the value. So you'll have to decide if a used trailer with cabinets and such is what you want...'cuse you can get a bare trailer, new, for about the same price.

Good luck.

Yes I notice that too, for example the brand "Shadowmaster" look very nice and are under $5000 new, I was not aware that they even finance the things with $450 down, bad thing is if you see the list of goddies, man oh man, a/c, living space and so on.

Sigh - it must be nice to live in a place where you can easily park something that big!

Although now that I think about it, how can I complain that there isn't much parking down here at the beach...
