CIS metering unit.
This picture i made should explain any mechanical questions you have regarding the metering unit assembly. Its based on the yellow tech book from bosch (2001 version) porsche workshop manuals and the petrol fuel injection book for automobiles (1978 edition) I hope you enjoy it as much i have enjoyed making it.

Yeah Ok, but you didn't explain that green electrical connector in the lower left frame. :)

Look now :)

Excellent! That switch as your last descriptive sentence implies is one of many CIS "hidden" secrets. !!!

Hehe, when considering the ultra comprehensive detail in my books i bet there are some other stuff people dont know about also. For example my book consists of several factory manuals about the CIS system, it covers general CIS, volvo in unsurpassed detail (even covers air metering rebuilding, and wich wires is activated in different phases of the system and if that is connected or not stuff.. and TIGHTENING TORQUES>> really cool to read. The porsche specific's, all the different pressures (cold, warm etc and 2.7) for bmw, merc, volvo, saab and porsche. So if you have ANY question please dont hesitate to ask and i will look into it. I must admit i dont own a porsche myself, i have a bmw 323i e21 82 model with k-jet on a tuned 2.5litre from 325 e30.
today or tommorow i will scan in some of the totally unheard of stuff / rebuilding tech for you porsche CIS owners can enjoy. Best regards Aleksander Johannesen (Dr. Injection) |
I've got a couple of files that I can't seem to trace the origins of, but it a chapter 5 and chapter 6 of some manual that resemble what you have. I wonder if it is the same. Chapter 5 is a 36 page chapter with the chapter titled "Continuos Injection-Theory" and chapter 6 is a 34 page chapter entitled "Continuos Injection-Troubleshooting and Service."
I love collecting CIS info, so if you could share it would be greatly appreciated. What is the title and publisher of the manual you are talkign about? |
The manual is from porsche itself, with pictures of a sweet rear end "6'pack" hehe. Only thing is that it is inside the huge LOTR size book so will be some work to scan it all. But i will do it tomorrow i think. If you havent check out this page http://members.rennlist.com/jimwms/CIS/CIShome.html

Direct from the factory! Cool! I would love a copy.

This is really old school stuff lol, the first chapter covers genral operation of the CIS system in porsches with the control pressure regulator for throttle valve compensation. The return and intake pressures under varying operating conditions etc. It shows a schematic where the fuel injectors is mounted after the throttle valve where air comes from the underside having the injectors spraying downwards where the intake bends downwards.. no idea what year that is, but prolly early :)
