Question fuel filter in tank of 72 T

My 72 911 T sometimes stops running while driving and then it won't start until several hours later. Fuel starvation? What do you think, is it a bad fuel pump or could the filter in the tank get clogged stopping the fuel. Does not happen everytime I drive the car but when it does it's a pain. How do I check the filter in the tank? Any other ideas? Thanks

This is scary, I'm having the same thing happen on my 72'.

Do a search on "MFI Fuel starvation" It will give you good info on this.
I haven't attacked my problem yet, but my guess is that it's the in line from the tank being gunked up.

Not sure if it is the same as on my 71, but there is a brass screen filter that is attached to the fitting that screws into the tank. This is where the gas line connects to the tank. Pull the fitting and you will get the filter. Check the steel hose sections too. They tend to get stuff like concrete built up in them. Be careful under there.

I did the MFI search, Guess I should have done that first. Lots of great info. I think I'll start in the tank. Thanks for your help.
