a not bad pseudo cadmium look-alike

There was a long thread I couldnt refind on cadmium plating. Thought I'd ad this tidbit.

Stainless steel when glass beaded develops a "dulled" surface texture which after you rub it with your hands, greys a lot like cadmium.

This is my first post.

Welcome to the board!
The most distinctive thing about cad plating is the yellow color.

I don't know about too much about yellow cad, other then to know it does exist out there. I am more familiar and see more often, the grey kind used in vintage parts for harleys. All the Cad coated stuff I buy (like oil-lines) from V-Twin is silvery grey.

If I wasnt so stock fixiated I'd be tempted to try something next-wave, perhaps some kind of vapor deposition with a di-chromic refraction look.

I help out in NH quite a few Sundays.. Epping.. look for a low 11's vega
